Adapting the Securus Technologies in Crime Prevention.

According to PR Newswire, the American society, and part of the Canadian society as well, is much better and safer because of the sole activities and effort of the Securus Technologies. The company, which majors in Information and Communication Technology, is a highly innovative technology firm that enjoys an extensive market in the prisons department of the United States, and Canada. The Company, Securus Technologies, is headquartered in the State of Texas although it has offices all across the United States, and some parts of Canada.

The company provides the corrections facilities it partners with a controlled means for their inmates to communicate with their families without breaking the law. The control is good because prisoners enjoy their right to communicate with family and friends, sometimes even with business associates, but under surveillance not to perpetrate or instigate criminal activities. Vast as the demand for such services may be in the United States alone; the company has to rely on a big staff for the censorship activities. Securus, to that effect, employees over 1000 people to satisfy the need of over 2200 correctional facilities.

Developing cutting edge technology requires innovation. To that effect, Securus invests heavily in research and in securing and acquiring patents. In fact, it has spent over 600 million dollars just for the sake of keeping its technological game ahead of all its challenges and challengers. Also, the company has often partnered with other technology firms to conjure inventions that better its services. One such partnership was the one with the Harris Corporation which led to the inception of the Cell Defender Technology.

The Cell Defender Technology is meant to bar contraband phones within correctional facilities from connecting with the outside world. No contraband phones can access the expansive mobile networks if the technology is applied in the facilities. Proper use of the Cell Defender Technology has been able to cut down malicious communications between inmates with other inmates and their criminal contacts in the outside world.

Encouraging letters from satisfied correctional institutions and staff from such clients have been streaming into the Securus offices for a long duration. The letters insinuate that both prison workers and the families of criminals and lawyers live free from fear of retaliation due to the company’s services. Other letters claim that prisoners are safer, protected from the malice of other prisoners and sometimes, their own malice as well.

Securus Technologies Protecting Officers Working in Jail

Make no mistake about it, any police officer working in a jail is at risk of serious danger each time they arrive at work. If me or one of my fellow officers were to let down our guard for one second, it could mean serious injury in the blink of an eye. We go through extensive training to have each others back, but sometimes these inmates have numbers and time on their side.

Each inmate is sitting there for 24 hours a day, thinking of ways to exploit cracks in the system and punish officers for their being in the jail. I have been the subject of many attacks, and had it not been for Securus Technologies and their latest software, I could have been taken out a long time ago. As skilled as I am at spotting trouble, having the resources we do now is invaluable.

When the team at Securus Technologies installed the inmate communication system, I was put through the training early on and really took to the material. It is amazing how little things that we have been taken for grated all these years actually was a wealth of information that could make each of us safer, and that includes the inmates too.

When we get information from one of these calls that an order has been given by gang leaders to go after a target on a rival gang, not only can we intercept the victim before anything happens, we can identify who is responsible and where the weapons they were going to use have been hidden. One call like that reveals all the players and all the information about how these guys are operating in the shadows.

Without the inmates having a clue who snitched, we all get to be safer and roundup all the players without ever being in the middle of the fighting.
