According to PR Newswire, the American society, and part of the Canadian society as well, is much better and safer because of the sole activities and effort of the Securus Technologies. The company, which majors in Information and Communication Technology, is a highly innovative technology firm that enjoys an extensive market in the prisons department of the United States, and Canada. The Company, Securus Technologies, is headquartered in the State of Texas although it has offices all across the United States, and some parts of Canada.
The company provides the corrections facilities it partners with a controlled means for their inmates to communicate with their families without breaking the law. The control is good because prisoners enjoy their right to communicate with family and friends, sometimes even with business associates, but under surveillance not to perpetrate or instigate criminal activities. Vast as the demand for such services may be in the United States alone; the company has to rely on a big staff for the censorship activities. Securus, to that effect, employees over 1000 people to satisfy the need of over 2200 correctional facilities.
Developing cutting edge technology requires innovation. To that effect, Securus invests heavily in research and in securing and acquiring patents. In fact, it has spent over 600 million dollars just for the sake of keeping its technological game ahead of all its challenges and challengers. Also, the company has often partnered with other technology firms to conjure inventions that better its services. One such partnership was the one with the Harris Corporation which led to the inception of the Cell Defender Technology.
The Cell Defender Technology is meant to bar contraband phones within correctional facilities from connecting with the outside world. No contraband phones can access the expansive mobile networks if the technology is applied in the facilities. Proper use of the Cell Defender Technology has been able to cut down malicious communications between inmates with other inmates and their criminal contacts in the outside world.
Encouraging letters from satisfied correctional institutions and staff from such clients have been streaming into the Securus offices for a long duration. The letters insinuate that both prison workers and the families of criminals and lawyers live free from fear of retaliation due to the company’s services. Other letters claim that prisoners are safer, protected from the malice of other prisoners and sometimes, their own malice as well.

Dating apps have become a popular way to meet people and look for relationships with todays younger generations. Whitney Wolfe’s Bumble is one of the newer yet widely successful apps on the market. What separates Bumble from other apps is the unique option it gives users when setting up their profiles. They get to decide if they want to use the app for dating or specifically for Bumble BFF. The BFF option is strictly for making friends, whether you’re out traveling or wants some new besties to add to your circle in your hometown.
In addition to the launch of Bumble BFF, Bumble is set to open a sweet new spot called The Hive. The Hive will serve as a place for coffee dates, friends hanging out after work for a drink, or anyone who simply wants to check it out. The New York City hangout will offer both a full alcohol and coffee bar but with limited hours. They will only be open from Thursday’s through Sunday’s. As of right now, The Hive is a temporary meet up spot expected to last just one month and during that time all proceeds will go to charity.
Whitney Wolfe, founder and CEO of Bumble, is the mastermind behind The Hive. She initially created this app as a way for women to have the opportunity to choose who they want to date. The way Bumble is set up, women are the ones who get to hit like, only after that they will show up in the men’s feed. This is what sets it apart from many other dating apps. Whitney Wolfe’s site also has the option to be used in BIZZ or BFF mode.
Due to Whitney Wolfe’s unique and trending work in the social media world, she has won many awards and recognitions. Her most recent was being named one of Forbes 30 Under 30. Whitney Wolfe has been in the tech field for many years and continues to invent new app ideas every day.
According to American-Statesman’s Viewpoint editorial released on September 3, 2015, Austin’s traffic congestion problem needs a technological solution. Mike Heiligenstein from CTRMA agreed with the Statesman editorial saying that Austin, Texas, needs multiple resources to address its traffic woes. He added that Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s mandate is to help resolve some of the region’s key transportation issues.Learn more : https://www.crunchbase.com/person/mike-heiligenstein#/entity
The Mobility Authority built several toll roads including 183A in Leander and Cedar Park, U.S 290 connecting Manor and Austin as well as Express Lanes found on MoPac Expressway that serves Austin’s core population. These road projects have not only eased traffic congestion but also helped spur growth in the nearby regions.Learn more : http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/print-edition/2014/01/10/fifteen-minutes-with-mike.html
Mike said that CTRMA was not a privately held company. It is a local Mobility Authority that remains accountable to the counties of Travis and Williamson, which it serves. CTRMA is building MoPac Express Lanes that are designed to help reduce traffic congestion and manage traffic flow in Austin. The lanes will have variable tolling fitted with sophisticated technology. It will enable people to travel to their destinations with ease. However, Mike reiterated that the lanes would not completely reduce traffic congestion.Learn more : http://www.dot.state.tx.us/ttf2009/People/MikeHeiligenstein.htm
Importance of Technology
Mike also added that CTRMA is looking into ways of infusing technological solutions in their future projects making them smart roads. This will require the use of fiber lines embedded along the new 183 South project that the Mobility Authority is constructing between the airport and US 290. Mike anticipates that one day roads and vehicles will be able to talk to each other.
CTRMA partnered with Metropia and created a mobile traffic app that was later integrated with the local traffic monitoring system to provide road users with real-time alternative routes. The Mobility Authority is also working with Carma, which is a carpooling app that encourages ridesharing among commuters.
CTRMA is also encouraging residents to pedal or walk more to reduce congestion in roads. Furthermore, the Mobility Authority started a Highway Emergency Response Operator called HERO that works with Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization to provide roadside assistance to motorists free of cost. HERO patrols Interstate 35 and part of US 183.
As the Executive Director of Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, Mike Heiligenstein continues to serve the residents of Williamson and Travis counties since 2003.
